Do You Still Have A Vagina? by L. Weingarten
From “A Series of Questions”, a project where the viewer is confronted with the inappropriate questions often asked of trans people. There are new images up at Weingarten’s site.

I get how this is an inappropriate question in day to day life… but some people think I’m trans phobic cause I think it’s a fair question to ask someone I’m serious about before we get naked. Do you think it a fair question to ask about someone you might have sex with?

I can’t imagine someone getting to that point and going SURPRISE! VAGINA! or SURPRISE! COCK! without being like “er, well, before we get it on, you should probably know something about me…”
But then again, as much of an asshole as I can be, I’m not THAT much of an asshole. I dunno.
I still wouldn’t ask, even in that situation, though.

I wouldn’t ask, especially because it wouldn’t matter to me being queer.
but if I was in a relationship and we were taking it slow and they didn’t tell me before we had sex…I’d be kinda insulted that they didn’t trust me, you know?

What’s this about trust? You’d have to know they’re trans to even formulate the question. I’m not pansexual. I really don’t care for vagina. Now if a girl I really liked had a surprise penis it wouldn’t be a big deal to me… But if I’m getting serious about a guy knowing he’s trans, don’t ask and “Oops, surprise vagina” everyone’s going to be disappointed.
